A Passion for Guiding People Through Life

Inoue has been practicing astrology for quarter of a century, and helped countless people navigate their lives. But in the beginning, she was critical of it.

“30 years ago I was a TV host. I had shows in Japan and Hawaii, and I had sponsorships from big brands like Nike and Ralph Lauren. I was in a really good place professionally. And one day someone gave me an astrology reading as a gift,” she recalls. “I was honestly not really into it, but you don’t want to waste a gift certificate. So I went to this guy, and I was a skeptic. He knew a lot about me, but I assumed that he’d read it in a magazine or a newspaper that did a feature on me. The thing that stuck with me most was that he told me that I would go through a career shift on April 1, 2000.”

Sure enough, in April of that year, Inoue walked into her studio only to be informed that the company she worked for had been acquired – and that her bilingual newscast hadn’t been purchased. It was then that she recalled the astrologer’s prediction, and became intrigued.

“I just felt like, my god, I need to learn how to calculate this. I felt like this is what’s meant to be. I didn’t feel as sad as I think I would have, having lost my job in television. That’s how it started – with me buying astrology books, studying, practicing, and eventually building a practice.”

Since then, Inoue has seen over 10,000 people in private sessions. Helping them find clarity in their lives has become her passion.

Along the way, she launched her company Happiness U, scaling up her efforts. Now, she is the author of multiple award-winning books, and her company provides both corporate training and executive coaching.

Taking her passion to YouTube was the next logical step to reach a wider audience.

On a Mission to Demystify Astrology

“Many people in my generation have been sort of brainwashed concerning astrology,” Inoue laments. “They think it’s a sort of hocus-pocus, hippie-era thing. People believing in unicorns. In reality, it’s a discipline. I print out a bunch of data and read it – everything is calculated. There is nothing mystical about it to me. I am just translating data that happens to match a person’s life.”

On her YouTube channel, Inoue has launched a series with the goal of demystifying astrology – Following Journeys. The concept is simple. She provides predictions and guidance for her guests – most of them business leaders. And then she follows up with them months later, to see how accurate her reading was and whether her advice had helped people.

The results speak for themselves.

Following Journeys - a Proof of Concept

Together with her team of creators, video editors, and YouTube channel managers, Inoue created an entire season of Following Journeys, which now airs on YouTube.

Even the series’ launch, in a local movie theater in Hawaii, proved to be a resounding success.

“We had 220 people,” Inoue recalls. “Full house – and we actually did a screening for it. I think what was the most rewarding thing was just to watch everybody’s faces, and to have interviews with people afterwards. They were just blown away – the response has been great. ”

“Many of the audience were new to astrology – they had never had a reading before. And when we asked them afterwards whether their perception of astrology had changed, everybody’s hand went up. So I think it’s educational.”
